Assistant Professor in Comparative Pathology (WOT) - Department of Comparative Medicine
About The Position
The Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Comparative Pathology. The successful candidate will join the faculty on a full-time basis for a 3-year renewable appointment. The University of Washington School of Medicine is a highly recognized institution for medical training and research. The Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM) is one of 12 basic science departments within the School of Medicine. DCM's mission is to advance knowledge and improve human and animal health and welfare through excellent service support, biomedical research, and teaching. DCM serves as the central laboratory animal medicine resource at the University of Washington, managing extensive animal facilities and supporting a large daily census of animals across various species. The department employs over 175 individuals who provide comprehensive animal husbandry, veterinary, and laboratory services. The UW animal care program is accredited by AAALAC International and serves over 400 principal investigators. DCM faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and residents conduct research in areas such as comparative infectious disease, aging, cancer biology, and genetics. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.
Requirements
- DVM/VMD or foreign equivalent from an AVMA accredited or AVMA listed institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Pathology.
- A documented record of research or grants (independent or collaborative) relating to their area of expertise.
- Two years of experience in pathology of laboratory animals.
