About The Position

The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in Exercise Science, beginning in August 2027. The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance seeks a qualified and highly motivated faculty member to complement and enhance the teaching delivery of our undergraduate program in Human Performance and graduate program in Exercise and Nutrition Science.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Health Sciences and Human Performance or related discipline by August 2027.
  • Commitment to teaching various courses in exercise science, nutrition science, and human performance.
  • Ability to teach in lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses and in hybrid courses.
  • Ability to create engaging, inclusive learning environments.
  • Ability to maintain an active scholarly agenda.
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activity, advise/mentor students, and participate in service to the department, college, University, and broader community.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in Exercise Science.
  • Experience with the program accreditation process.
  • Certifications as a Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and/or Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching various courses in exercise science, nutrition science, and human performance, potentially including Exercise Testing and Prescription, Strength Training and Conditioning, Biomechanics, Senior Seminar, and/or coordinating an Internship.
  • Teaching in lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses and in hybrid courses (online and face-to-face lectures) in the Exercise and Nutritional Sciences graduate program.
  • Creating engaging, inclusive learning environments that challenge students to reach their potential.
  • Fulfilling a teaching load of 12 credit/contact hours per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Engaging with the institution by providing and/or developing expertise that serves the broader needs of the institution.
  • Engaging undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of activities.
  • Advising students each semester, providing guidance for enrollment and career advice.
  • Maintaining an active scholarly agenda appropriate to their field and the resources available at The University of Tampa.
  • Engaging in scholarly activity, advising/mentoring students, and participating in service to the department, college, University, and broader community.
