About The Position

The Assistant Professor of Teaching, Health Sciences within the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) is a 9-month faculty position. The anticipated start date of employment is January 11, 2027. The College of Health and Human Sciences offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in fields such as Health Studies, Sport and Entertainment Management, Hospitality and Resort Management, Physical Education Teacher Education, Nutrition, and Applied Physiology. The college also offers PhD programs and a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Multiple laboratories are available, with an extensive equipment inventory, and a major research modernization project is planned for 2027. CHHS has approximately 1900 undergraduate and graduate majors. The University of Memphis is recognized as a Research 1 Institution with a diverse student population of approximately 20,000 students.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an earned Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Exercise Science, or a closely related field.
  • The ability to teach lower and upper division undergraduate health science/health promotion courses (e.g., Program Planning, Epidemiology, Assessment and Evaluation, Public Health, Wellness Concepts).
  • The ability to teach face-to-face and online courses.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a load of 5 course sections (15 credit hours) per semester, which may include traditional, online, and hybrid formats.
