About The Position

The Assistant Professor of Teaching, Health Sciences within the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) is a 9-month faculty position. The anticipated start date of employment is January 11, 2027. The College of Health and Human Sciences offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in Health Studies, Sport and Entertainment Management, Hospitality and Resort Management, and Physical Education Teacher Education. The college also offers PhD programs and a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Multiple laboratories are available within the College, with an extensive equipment inventory. A major research modernization project is planned for 2027. There are approximately 1900 undergraduate and graduate majors within CHHS. The University of Memphis is recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research 1 Institution. It has a diverse population of approximately 20,000 students including approximately 4,000 graduate students.

Requirements

• A minimum of an earned Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Exercise Science, or a closely related field is required.
• The ability to teach lower and upper division undergraduate health science/health promotion courses (e.g., Program Planning, Epidemiology, Assessment and Evaluation, Public Health, Wellness Concepts) is required.
• The ability to teach face-to-face and online courses is required.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Responsibilities

• Teaching load of 5 course sections (15 credit hours) per semester.
• Teaching may involve traditional, online, and hybrid formats.
• Supervision of student interns.
• Service to the college, university, and profession.
