About The Position

The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for up to two Assistant Professors in Finance for the 2027-28 academic year. These are full-time, academic-year tenure-track positions. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through high quality publications in leading academic journals, to teach courses with rigorous academic content at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level, and to engage in service and outreach activities that advance the educational mission of the School of Business and the University of Kansas. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. degree in Finance or related field (must be earned by August 18, 2027).
  • Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) scholarship excellence as shown through publications and working papers.
  • Demonstrated (or evidence of high potential for) teaching excellence.
  • This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position.
  • The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain an active program of scholarly research in finance and related fields, leading to publications in high-quality academic journals, scholarly presentations, and other research contributions
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance and related disciplines. Contribute to student learning through instruction, mentoring, advising, curriculum development, and other educational activities that support the mission of the School of Business.
  • Engage in service activities that support the area, school, university, profession, and broader community. Contribute through committee participation, professional engagement, outreach, student support activities, and other service contributions appropriate to rank and expertise.
