About The Position

The Department of Management in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management with a focus in entrepreneurship and/or strategy. Advanced assistant professors are also encouraged to apply. The position begins in Fall 2027. JMU is a selective, public institution with a growing national reputation, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The College of Business is home to the Department of Management, which comprises 22 full-time faculty members and supports over 800 management majors across three concentrations. The department emphasizes undergraduate programs with engaging classroom experiences, case studies, projects, and laboratory exercises. Faculty also contribute to the Executive Leadership MBA, Innovation MBA, and Information Security MBA programs. Departmental faculty maintain strong connections with the business community and interact with the department's advisory board.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in Business Administration or a closely related field is required (doctorate degree from a business program must be from an AACSB-accredited business school).
Applicants who are ABD will be considered with the requirement of degree in hand by December of 2027.
Ability to teach courses in Entrepreneurship and/or Strategic Management.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
Outstanding research potential for publishing in premier management journals.

Nice To Haves

Primary emphasis in entrepreneurship or strategy with a secondary area of expertise in the other discipline.
