About The Position

The School of Education at Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2026. This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in K-12 teaching, leadership, curriculum development, pedagogy, special education, and social justice issues. Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activities, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and provide service to their discipline, the university, and the wider community. The School of Education is dedicated to preparing high-quality educators and leaders for elementary, secondary, and post-secondary positions, with a focus on online programs for professionals seeking master's and doctoral level leadership roles. This is an in-person position requiring a consistent on-campus presence for teaching, student engagement, and participation in school and university activities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in special education, educational leadership or related field.
  • K-12 school teaching experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to high quality teaching.
  • Dedication to high standards and student success.
  • Scholarly publication record or scholarly potential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with university-level teaching and advising in a pre-service teacher education program.
  • Technology skills related to online teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and integrating the mission and core values of Marymount University and Academic Affairs.
  • Assuming teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the School and as outlined in the Marymount Faculty Handbook.
  • Maintaining office hours at times which provide appropriate access to students.
  • Advising assigned student advisees with program and licensure requirements and career information.
  • Assuming professional responsibilities as requested by the College Dean or School Director.
  • Engaging in on-going professional development which will include scholarship activities such as research, presentations, and participation with professional organizations.
  • Contributing to the University and School program functions and services, including assessment, and continuous improvement activities.
