About The Position

The Department of Economics at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Carnegie-classified R2 institution, seeks outstanding applicants for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track). Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Economics by August 15th, 2027.
  • Expertise in teaching and research in the discipline of Economics.
  • Work that engages in labor economics or public finance.
  • Ability to teach courses such as introductory economics and statistics.
  • Commitment to LMU's teacher-scholar model.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an active program of scholarship.
  • Teaching and advising undergraduate students.
  • Contributing to department and university service.
  • Teaching a diverse student body in a transformative learning environment.
  • Developing a thriving portfolio of research and mentoring students.
  • Participating in service activities at the academic, professional, and/or community levels.
  • Working toward greater equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility for all in the profession.
  • Teaching courses that would readily fit into our departmental curriculum, such as introductory economics and statistics.
  • Contributing to the LMU Core Curriculum, for example by developing a First-Year Seminar and/or courses that incorporate Interdisciplinary Connections.
  • Engaging students through innovative forms of undergraduate teaching, an active research agenda, and innovative forms of student engagement, including collaborative and community-based learning.
