About The Position

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of autism spectrum disorder in the transition to adulthood age period and a focus on the measurement and treatment of co-occurring Depression. The role involves providing comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations, transition to adulthood evaluations, interventions supporting mental health and patient-centered outcomes for transition-to-adulthood aged autistic people, and active involvement in mental health research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Training and experience working in clinical and research settings with autistic/neurodivergent adolescents and young adults and their families.
  • Experience in supporting mental health to autistic adolescents and young adults transitioning to adulthood.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising behavioral health trainees (including psychology externs, interns, and fellows) in clinical practice and research.
  • Giving lectures to trainees in psychology, psychiatry, neurology, and pediatrics.
  • Assessment, intervention, and consultation services to patients in outpatient settings within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, with a focus on patients presenting with concerns related to autism spectrum disorder and/or other neurodevelopmental conditions during the transition to adulthood age range (14 to 25 years).
  • Contributing to the growth of impactful and transformative research in pediatric health and equity, including a focus on autism spectrum disorder, co-occurring depression, psychometrics of mental health assessment tools, and community engaged science.
  • Data analysis using qualitative and advanced multivariate quantitative methods.
  • Manuscript preparation and dissemination of research findings.
  • Providing comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations.
  • Providing transition to adulthood evaluations.
  • Providing interventions supporting mental health and patient-centered outcomes for transition-to-adulthood aged autistic people.
  • Active involvement in mental health research initiatives.
  • Leading mental health science and community engaged research initiatives.
