About The Position

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for clinical-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The Assistant Professor - Clinical will lead a centralized intake model that serves as the front door to the College of Dentistry, ensuring every patient receives the right care, at the right time, in the right clinical setting. This role supports excellence in patient care, education, and operational efficiency. Other duties include research and scholarly activity, supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, contributing to the college’s continuing education programs, and practicing in the college’s affiliated intramural Dental Faculty Practice. Position Summary The Assistant Professor - Clinical of the Screening and Intake Clinic provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for the College of Dentistry’s centralized patient screening, triage, and intake services. This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising dental and dental hygiene students who conduct triage and intake evaluations for new patients while maintaining clinical oversight of all intake-related activities. Clinical operations is the primary focus of this position. This position ensures that all new patients receive assessment, risk evaluation, and appropriate disposition to student clinics, specialty clinics, faculty practice, or community referral resources in a timely, patient-centered, and efficient manner. As the clinical leader of the Screening and Intake clinic, this position establishes and maintains standards for quality, compliance, consistency and operational effectiveness. Working collaboratively with administrative partners, this position advances the College’s strategic goals by improving access to care, enhancing the patient experience, optimizing clinic productivity, and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement. Success in this role is measured through timely patient access, appropriate patient disposition, high patient satisfaction, strong clinic performance, and continued operational growth.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited institution
  • Ohio dental licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Five years of clinical dental experience
  • Experience in patient assessment and care coordination
  • Experience with electronic health records (e.g., EPIC)
