Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA) - Pediatrics - Patient Care
About The Position
This clinical faculty position in the division of Pediatrics will spend the majority of his/her clinical activity in the Inpatient Service and must possess strong communication skills to communicate with patients, family members, hospital staff and other faculty members within the Institution. Provides clinical expertise in patient care management with combined Pediatrics and General Internal Medicine and provides an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents and students. The Assistant Professor must be fully ambulatory and have excellent bilateral manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, visual and auditory acuity in order to perform the job functions. The Assistant Professor will be intelligent with outstanding analytical skills in order to make judgments regarding the patient’s medical problems and advise the patient on methods to improve their care. Furthermore, the Assistant Professor must have emotional and psychological stability so that he will be able to manage patients and their families in a compassionate and positive manner. The Assistant Professor will participate in the development of clinical research studies and will be independently responsible for new patient evaluations, initiation of appropriate referrals, and follow-up as appropriate. Clinical procedures practiced will encompass those pertinent in delivering standard care to the patient.
Requirements
- Completed a medical degree (MD/DO) in an accredited medical school or equivalent
- Completed an accredited pediatrics residency program
- Board certified or board eligible in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
- Licensed as a physician in the State of Texas
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship
- Strong background in oncology
