About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics Patient Care at MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment to join the Pediatric Palliative and Supportive Care Team. The clinical faculty position will provide robust, inter-disciplinary pediatric palliative care to infants, children, adolescents, and AYAs suffering from life-threatening, life-limiting, and terminal diseases. This clinical faculty position in the division of Pediatrics will spend their clinical activity attending on the Palliative and Supportive Care Inpatient Service at the Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson as well as in the Palliative and Supportive Care Child and Adolescent outpatient clinic. The role involves providing clinical expertise in pediatric pain & symptom management and palliative care, and creating an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students through lectures and bedside teaching. Additionally, the position requires participation and collaboration with the department's ongoing research program and scholarly work to enhance the academic environment. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, family members, hospital staff, and other faculty members.

Requirements

Completed a medical degree (MD/DO) in an accredited medical school or equivalent.
Completed an accredited pediatrics residency program.
Completed an accredited palliative medicine fellowship program.
Board Eligible or Board Certified in general pediatrics and hospice and palliative medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Licensed as a physician in the State of Texas or eligible to obtain a Texas medical license.
Ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of critical infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an accredited pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship is preferable.
Applicants with a strong background in oncology are encouraged to apply.
Candidates who are BC/BE in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology with training in Integrative Medicine will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Attend on the Palliative and Supportive Care Inpatient Service at the Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson.
Attend in the Palliative and Supportive Care Child and Adolescent outpatient clinic.
Provide clinical expertise in pediatric pain & symptom management and palliative care.
Provide an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents and students including delivery of lectures and bedside teaching.
Participate and collaborate with the department's ongoing research program and scholarly work to enhance the academic environment of the department.
Communicate effectively with patients, family members, hospital staff and other faculty members within the Institution.
