About The Position

The Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Canadian Politics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

Requirements

• Earned a PhD degree in Political Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
• Teaching and research will contribute to the theoretical and empirical understanding of Canadian politics or Canada in a comparative perspective.
• Evidence of research excellence demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, the submitted research statement, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching provided through teaching accomplishments, a teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.
• Commitment and efforts to advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities on the University of Toronto's downtown (St. George) campus.

• Salary range of $120,000 to $160,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience.
• Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
