About The Position

The Department of Accounting at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Carnegie-classified R2 institution, is seeking outstanding applicants for an Assistant Professor of Accounting (Tenure-Track) position. Requirements

  • Hold a doctorate in Accounting or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited university, conferred no later than the position start date of August 15, 2027.
  • Demonstrate disciplinary excellence.
  • Demonstrate a clear capacity to advance LMU’s mission through teaching, scholarly, professional, and service-related contributions.
  • Demonstrate interest and potential to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research and teaching, including the integration of data analytics and artificial intelligence into accounting pedagogy and scholarship.
  • Address commitment to and any past and/or potential contributions to advancing LMU’s mission and promoting the success, sense of belonging, and thriving of students from a variety of lived experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a diverse undergraduate student body across a range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Contribute to the LMU Core Curriculum, such as through the development of a First-Year Seminar and/or courses incorporating experiential learning for mission.
  • Engage students as whole persons and pursue scholarly and creative work that promotes justice, equity, and the common good in alignment with LMU’s teacher-scholar model.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarship.
  • Teach typical class sizes ranging from 20 to 30 students.
  • Advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Mentor students in research.
  • Contribute to department, college, and university service.
  • Support the mission of the College of Business Administration and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education and Sustainable Development Goals.
