About The Position

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting, Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027 (or negotiable). The successful candidate will be joining a research intensive environment and will be expected to contribute to excellence in research and scholarship through high quality peer reviewed publications in their areas of expertise. Preferred candidates will have their primary research interest in the area of financial accounting and reporting, sustainability reporting, or taxation, along with a desire to teach these subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All research methodologies will be considered with a preference for expertise in judgment and decision making research methods. The University of Saskatchewan is an internationally recognized research intensive university that has a rich history in accounting scholarship evidenced by its offering of the first accounting degree in Canada. The Edwards School of Business has an undergraduate business program with approximately 2,600 students. As an AACSB accredited business school, we also have thriving Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), M.Sc., and MBA programs. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Candidates near the completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply providing the requirements for the Ph.D. degree will be completed imminently.
  • Cover letter of application, including a statement of citizenship/immigration status
  • A detailed and current curriculum vitae
  • A current working paper from your research
  • A teaching statement including evidence of teaching effectiveness, if available
  • Three current letters of reference
  • Indicate whether they are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or are otherwise already authorized to work at this position for the duration of the appointment, with an explanation if this last category is indicated.

Nice To Haves

  • Primary research interest in the area of financial accounting and reporting, sustainability reporting, or taxation.
  • Expertise in judgment and decision making research methods.
  • Possessing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation will be an asset.
  • Exceptionally qualified, experienced and accomplished candidates may also apply.
