About The Position

The Assistant Produce Manager supports the development of the skills and expertise needed to become a Produce Department Manager. This role supervises the produce department to ensure Lowes Foods guest service, merchandising programs, and departmental operations are maintained. The Assistant Produce Manager assumes the Department Manager’s duties in their absence. Pay starts at $17 per hour.

Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and 25 pounds constantly.
Ability to read and understand information and direction.
Knowledge of produce operations.
Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Effective communication and guest service skills.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from produce and floral department staff.
Achieve budgeted sales and profits for the produce and floral department.
Maintain desired inventory and supply levels.
Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs.
Ensure products for sale meet Lowes Foods quality standards.
Maintain department sanitation and safety according to Lowes Foods standards.
Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback so produce department hosts meet satisfactory performance standards.
Perform product preparation, receiving, conditioning, stocking, and guest service as needed to achieve standards.
Maintain the department’s staffing and scheduling standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Assume the Department Manager’s duties in their absence.
