This role involves actively participating in and training bakery department crew members to enthusiastically demonstrate, educate, and sell fresh in-store scratch bakery products. The position also includes preparing fresh produce for sale by receiving, washing, cutting, and stocking products according to established department and company policies and procedures. The Assistant Produce Manager assists with leadership for department crew members, including planning and assigning work, conducting coaching sessions, administering discipline, providing training, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Daily team huddles are conducted to communicate sales goals and reinforce guest service expectations. The role is responsible for writing and placing orders for products and supplies, checking in orders, and organizing dry storage and coolers. It also involves writing daily plans and weekly work schedules, rotating merchandise, maintaining displays to ensure freshness, and coordinating produce department related POS maintenance. The position ensures displays are properly stocked, maintains records for damaged/spoiled merchandise, and complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations. The Assistant Produce Manager ensures the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area and equipment, and works towards acquiring product knowledge in all departments to respond to guest questions. Staying updated on weekly specials, promotions, and cultivating a team-oriented work environment are also key aspects of this role. The store operates seven days a week, potentially requiring weekend, holiday, and shift work.
