That's WEIS! The Assistant Produce Manager is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned. This role promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer focused behavior with associates. The Assistant Produce Manager focuses on continuous improvement in all areas of the department and makes changes to ensure progress. They are responsible for ensuring fresh quality merchandise by using proper product handling techniques and helping to control damages and minimize product losses according to company procedures and standards. The Assistant Produce Manager assists the Produce Manager in day-to-day functions of Produce operations such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement and customer service, and performs duties of Produce Manager in their absence. They develop and implement merchandising plans that meet financial goals and are knowledgeable on weekly ads and specials to ensure correct pricing and production amounts. This role adheres to and enforces company policy of production logs and oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders and supplies to ensure successful period-end physical inventory. The Assistant Produce Manager assists with scheduling all department associates, participates in training, rewards and recognizes performance and delegates work assignments to effectively utilize talents and abilities while maximizing profits for the department. They manage inventory levels and review orders to ensure product quantities meet customer demand, maintain backroom organization and product storage within company guidelines, and oversee shelf replenishment efforts to ensure product availability for customers. This role checks and verifies all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing, enforces and follows department practices regarding receiving, dating and restocking to ensure product rotation, and monitors product quality and freshness. The Assistant Produce Manager controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, controls labor costs and reduces losses due to damages, spoiled product and shrink. They ensure associates correctly follow company recipes for prepared products and maintain freshness by properly removing and recording out of code products. This role keeps the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands, unpacks cartons and crates of merchandise, cleans and trims produce, and stocks area with new merchandise. They ensure merchandise is in saleable condition which requires rotating stock to ensure freshness and that product has been properly priced with correct signage. The Assistant Produce Manager maintains the salad bar and cut fruit/vegetable as needed, assists in building attractive displays, and accurately completes necessary product logs. They handle spoiled and damaged product, new items and discontinued items accordingly to company policy, and maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting procedures. This role is responsible for general sanitation in the department, follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. They may also assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. Training is provided. This role ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors and is responsible to continuously improve job performance. They are responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). May also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum (2) years' experience in management in retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.
