About The Position

This position is for an Assistant Probation Division Director within the Probation Division of Kern County. The examination process includes an oral exam to assess training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness. Successful candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in each phase of the examination. Appointees must meet specific Peace Officer Standards, pass an extensive background investigation, and possess a valid California Driver's License. A felony conviction will be disqualifying, and other convictions will be assessed individually. The eligible list established from this examination will be used for immediate appointments and other permanent and temporary appointments as needed, remaining valid for twelve months.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
Three (3) years of full-time paid experience equivalent to a Senior Deputy Probation Officer or Probation Supervisor, in the Kern County Classification System.
Meeting minimum Peace Officer Standards as defined in the California Penal Code, Section 830.5, and the California Government Code, Sections 1029 and 1031.
Possession of a Class C California Driver's License at the time of employment.
Reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.
Must not have a felony conviction.
Must pass an extensive background investigation.
Must submit all applicable diploma(s), transcripts, licenses and/or certificates with their application.
