About The Position

Assists the campus Principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations to ensure maximum student learning. Coordinates assigned student activities and services. This role involves modeling KISD core organizational beliefs and values, communicating openly and effectively, managing resources to support District goals, providing program support, and maintaining a commitment to the District mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas Certificate
  • Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
  • Three (3) years successful classroom teacher experience
  • Knowledge of campus operations
  • Working knowledge of learner-centered curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of TEA-related rules, regulations and procedures
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs and pilot efforts.
  • Participate in program evaluation and suggest improvements.
  • Reinforce staff performance expectations regarding instructional strategies and classroom management.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among staff, encouraging their involvement in decision-making.
  • Take a leadership role in planning and implementing programs to achieve the school's mission.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Help develop, maintain, and use information systems for record-keeping and tracking campus performance.
  • Ensure responsiveness to diverse sociological, linguistic, cultural, and other factors affecting student development and learning.
  • Ensure quality, differentiated instructional programs are provided to meet individual student needs.
  • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that promotes positive student behavior and enhances school climate.
  • Ensure school rules are uniformly applied and student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
  • Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and conduct follow-up investigations.
  • Serve as chairperson in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Serve on designated student support committees (e.g., CARE team, SAVE committee).
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Work with department chairpersons to compile annual budget requests, requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
  • Check inventory, maintain records, and verify receipts for materials.
  • Assist with the management of all school facilities and equipment, ensuring clean, orderly, and safe conditions.
  • Assist with safety inspections, safety drill practice activities, and crisis plan development and implementation.
  • Participate in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Serve as a second appraiser as needed for the designated teacher appraisal system.
  • Assist the Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet them, encouraging community and parent involvement.
  • Assist the principal in developing and communicating school guidelines for student conduct.
  • Ensure school rules are uniformly observed and consequences of misconduct are applied equitably.
  • Record PEIMS data related to discipline.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for information retrieval to support all programs.
  • Compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff, ensuring alignment with District goals.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
