About The Position

DeKalb Preparatory Academy is seeking an Assistant Principal for the K-8 Campus for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an 11-month position with a salary schedule based on the Teacher Salary Schedule plus an additional $5,000. The role involves supporting the Principal in various aspects of school administration, instructional leadership, staff supervision, and ensuring a safe and positive school environment.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate, Level 5 or higher.
  • Minimum of three years of successful educational experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards, curriculum, and instruction.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility in the absence of the Principal.
  • Keep the Principal apprised of activities, situations, and developments that affect school operations.
  • Ensure high-quality implementation of instructional expectations, including balanced instruction, standards, and formative assessment.
  • Assist the Principal with establishing and maintaining clear, consistent communications with parents, families, and community partners.
  • Assist in the supervision, observation, and evaluation of staff.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school's Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
  • Assist in the supervision of the extracurricular program.
  • Assist with the supervision of student and staff conduct and monitor their progress.
  • Assist the Principal with establishing a positive school climate.
  • Assist the Principal in implementing procedures to ensure a safe and orderly school environment.
  • Supervise student activities, assemblies, and other activities; assist in organizing student activities; assist with the supervision of student orientation, registration, and scheduling.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
