About The Position

Magnolia Science Academy 4 is seeking a full-time Assistant Principal for the 2026-27 academic year. This role involves significant responsibility in academic program development, student performance monitoring, school improvement initiatives, personnel and student management, staff development, and overall school operations. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal and other staff to ensure a positive and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • 4 Year Degree
  • Ability to stand, bend, and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to listen and hear students.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to be appropriately mobile, including escorting students across campus.
  • Proficiency in Illuminate or equivalent for managing student work.
  • Knowledge of state and charter regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with curriculum development and improvement, including textbook review and ordering.
  • Oversee the development of curriculum, lesson plans, and instruction.
  • Update course descriptions and offerings in the school manual and website.
  • Coordinate teacher and student involvement in after-school programs.
  • Develop and manage the daily class schedule.
  • Coordinate all academic activities with department chairs.
  • Oversee instructional field trip planning.
  • Coordinate failing letters and summer school/preparation programs.
  • Present academic and event calendar information at weekly administrative meetings.
  • Conference with students and parents on academic issues.
  • Schedule and coordinate the tutorial program and instructional after-school/Saturday school activities.
  • Assess and approve grade reports and mid-quarter reports before distribution.
  • Prepare standardized testing schedules and manage inventory for standardized testing.
  • Oversee teacher use of Illuminate or equivalent for homework, classwork, projects, and tests.
  • Report weekly at administration meetings on teachers not properly using Illuminate or equivalent.
  • Review student progress at the end of each quarter and notify parents of students on academic probation.
  • Maintain a list of high honor/honor students.
  • Assist in the organization of the school improvement plan with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Hold teacher evaluation conferences based on performance records.
  • Oversee school operations in the Principal's absence.
  • Assist in scheduling student activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
  • Oversee student attendance records and assist the office manager with truancy issues.
  • Aid in safety drill practices and inspections.
  • Hold teacher orientation and in-service training sessions.
  • Regularly prepare items for staff development for weekly faculty meetings and attend these meetings.
  • Conference with teachers on academic issues in the classroom.
  • Conduct formal and informal teacher observations.
  • Provide supervision of students during non-instructional hours.
  • Help students develop positive behavior through a student discipline management system.
  • Ensure uniform enforcement of school rules and oversee appropriate student discipline.
  • Hold parent/teacher/student conferences regarding student and school issues.
  • Demonstrate productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
  • Supervise teachers with their before/after school and lunch duties.
  • Supervise students during transition periods, lunch, before and after school.
  • Oversee discipline issues for teachers in Illuminate or equivalent.
  • Coordinate and chair the Charter School’s Restorative Justice Committee.
  • Supervise the safety and welfare of students.
  • Manage support services including transportation, custodial, and cafeteria.
  • Establish communication rapport with parents, students, principals, and teachers through conferences.
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
  • Present information accurately through clear communication skills.
  • Enrich job skills through professional development activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on and abide by state and charter regulations and policies.
  • Gather, manage, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
  • Be active in faculty meetings and assist in staff committees as necessary.
  • Perform other job-related duties and schedules assigned by the supervisor.
