About The Position

Aspire Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Principal of California Community Schools Partnership Program (AP of CCSPP) for an Aspire Elementary School (TK-6) in South Los Angeles. Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing, college preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. Founded in 1998, Aspire aims to transform inequitable racial, social, and gender outcomes. The purpose is to prepare scholars for success in college, career, and life by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and power to access and make choices for their families and post-secondary lives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years working with urban students as a full-time teacher preferred
  • 7+ years teaching and administrative experience
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)

Responsibilities

  • Managing the functions of the school site and overseeing the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP).
  • Designing, implementing, and supervising programs to support the holistic development of students.
  • Fostering community relationships and enhancing school culture.
  • Collaborating with school leaders, parents/families, and community organizations to implement a community school strategy aligned to the CCSPP.
  • Maintaining school-wide focus on high standards of student achievement.
  • Liaising with content leads to design and implement curriculum standards.
  • Managing data analysis processes to increase student achievement.
  • Designing and leading professional development for staff.
  • Supporting and coaching new and veteran teachers.
  • Modeling Aspire instructional guidelines.
  • Identifying and coordinating academic, socio-emotional, and health resources for students and their families.
  • Facilitating expanded health and wellness services at the school, including behavioral and mental health.
  • Supporting attendance interventions and initiatives, including partnering with external organizations to minimize barriers to attendance.
  • Facilitating and supporting enrichment activities during the school day, after school, and summer.
  • Collaborating with the School Leadership Team and Aspire Public Schools’ regional and home office staff to track programming progress and evaluate the effectiveness of activities.
  • Leading the review and update process of the Community Schools Implementation Plan to reflect progress, needs, legislative updates, and course corrections.
  • Developing a collaborative team culture.
  • Facilitating communication among various stakeholders (students, families, school administration, teachers, student support staff, and community partners) to support collaborative decision-making.
  • Chairing the school’s Community Schools Advisory Committee.
  • Collaborating on master scheduling and strategic planning projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with protocols and managing external partnerships.
  • Serving as administrative lead in the absence of the Principal.
  • Developing and strengthening relationships with community-based organizations and government agencies.
  • Partnering with school site leadership to increase and strengthen family support services and engagement initiatives.
  • Communicating with parents to better serve students and garner support from community groups and leaders.
  • Leading the review and update of the Community Schools Implementation Plan.
  • Participating in Aspire’s Regional Community Schools Advisory Group.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Performing other related duties as required and assigned.
