About The Position

Assists the school principal in the provision of direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational activities within an assigned school. Plays an integral role in the establishment and maintenance of a school climate that is conducive to learning, including overseeing the enforcement of school rules and regulations, and the implementation of disciplinary measures. Oversee campus operations in the principal's absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of teaching experience required
  • Active teaching certificate required
  • Clear and effective communication skills for diverse audiences including students, staff and families
  • Well-organized, ability to balance competing priorities and multi-task
  • Passion for developing staff’s instructional toolbox and staff and student leadership capacities
  • Leadership style that encourages teamwork and collaboration to support excellent instruction

Responsibilities

  • Supervises professional staff and teaching assistants
  • Creates a high-performing, skilled leadership team
  • Ensure campus-wide monitoring of multiple forms of student data to inform instructional and intervention decisions to maximize student achievement for both mainstream and special student populations
  • Productively manages and supports change processes
  • Strategically supports focused planning processes with strategic monitoring of outcomes
  • Focuses calendars and time to address principal, leadership, and instructional priorities
  • Coordinates with appropriate staff to ensure a clean, safe, and secure campus
  • Manage, train, and maintain documentation for emergency response and school safety, including drills, safety committee meetings, staff development, and general campus security.
  • Manage staff leave and coverage
  • Ensure adherence to campus budget management, purchasing, and inventory
  • Assists the campus principal in routinely implementing targeted and personalized strategies to induct, support, grow, and retain effective educators
  • Conducts rigorous, calibrated, and supported observations
  • Supports the campus principal to personalize and align professional development
  • Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management
  • Collaborates to establish clear expectations driven by data and proactive systems for behaviors, including social and emotional supports
  • Aligns the vision, mission, and goals to a safe environment and high expectations
  • Act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
  • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.
  • Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Manage attendance records including watch-list communication with parents, students, and administration
  • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  • Manages school organizations.
  • Provides administrative level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and community programs.
  • Productively involves and coordinates family and community involvement
  • Assists principal in implementation of strategies to proactively provide and coordinate student support services
  • Supports the campus principal in ensuring fidelity of implementation with state and district curricula and assessments
  • Actively supports the development of effective routines, instructional strategies, and experiences for all students
  • Collaboratively monitors multiple forms of data to guide instructional decisions and performance
  • Supports implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for school principals, including current professional standards of competence and practice
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local and board policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
  • Be the Administrator on Duty as needed for Athletic/Academic/Social events as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
