About The Position

Reporting to the Principal, the PSOE Assistant Principal will provide leadership and administration, which will motivate instructional and support personnel to strive for superior performance so as to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development, both educationally and personally.

Requirements

  • The Assistant Principal will be thoroughly committed to the PSOE mission.
  • All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
  • Advanced degree, with administrative experience preferred; track record of effectively leading a performance-and outcomes-based staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed educational strategies that have advanced an educational organization.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, grit, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Annual training and/or professional development is required for all PSOE employees. Job-specific training is identified and scheduled by the School Principal or direct supervisor in partnership with Paramount C-suite.

  • Knowledge of leadership principles as they relate to educational organizations.
  • Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to charter organizations including: employment standards, human rights, special education, FERPA, occupational health and safety, health coverage etc.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a professional advisor to the Principal on all aspects of the organization's activities.
  • Serve as the educational and behavioral program liaison to the school’s Principal and CAO.
  • Assist as directed in the management of front-line parent communication, serving as a communicative liaison to the greater school-parent community.
  • Assist as directed in the facilitation of communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
  • Assist as directed in the school’s behavioral management process, including attendance, dress code, and Level I and Level II offenses.
  • Abide by all PSOE frameworks as approved by the executive director and as noted in the staff handbook.
  • Assume all roles as delegated for a variety of administrative functions for the purpose of managing the administrative workload more efficiently.
  • Maintain ongoing, consistent communication with PSOE leadership as noted in the school’s leadership frameworks.
  • Provide assistance as needed with the PSOE testing structure, implementation, organization, layout, preparatory, etc.
  • Assist with the administration of PSOE’s formal and informal evaluation process.
  • Follow all administrative best practices in terms of legal, authorizer, and legislative guidelines, acting in the best legal interests of the organization.
  • Maintain a physical and digital community presence through community meetings, representative appearances, published articles, web updates, tweets, and blogs.
  • Assist as directed with weekly grade level accountability meetings with teams during their prep period.
  • Provide knowledgeable assistance as directed with the school’s YMCA, Title I, Title III, Special Education, and 21st Century Grant program.
