To provide support and assistance to the Principal in the development and implementation of procedures that will result in the maximum utilization of staff, materials, and facilities as they relate to students in Grades K-5, and the achievement of the objectives of the District. This role involves ensuring an educational environment that meets the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of all primary and intermediate students, assisting in the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities, and interpreting and implementing the district-approved curriculum program. The Assistant Principal will take an active leadership role in school improvement planning and implementation, including gathering, analyzing, and using student data. They will also support and implement established building policies, procedures, and regulations, and actively participate in the screening, selecting, assigning, supervising, and evaluating certified and educational support staff. Additionally, the role contributes to the professional learning and training of all staff, provides effective leadership for special education and student support services, and plans, schedules, and supervises student activities. The Assistant Principal assists in budget planning, supervises the organization and management of instructional materials, student records, and financial obligations, and oversees student and building safety and security procedures. Collaboration with the Principal and building leadership team is key to ensuring a positive, service-oriented atmosphere. The role also coordinates transportation needs, facilitates special education meetings, serves as the local Education Agency Lea representative, and coordinates the assignment, orientation, and supervision of student teachers and interns. A developmentally appropriate behavior plan and policy will be carried out and modeled, with mutual respect for students. Planning and execution of a student activities calendar, including special events, is also a responsibility, as is supervising and managing building operations for safety and efficiency. Monitoring teaching and learning, coordinating building operations, and assisting with state and federal reporting requirements are also part of the role. The Assistant Principal will serve as the building principal in their absence and perform other duties as assigned. The role involves organizing and supervising all aspects of the co-curricular program and leading efforts to build and maintain family-school partnerships and community engagement.
