About The Position

Our 2nd Press Operator is responsible for assisting the Press Operators in the press room with make readies, press equipment operations and quality control functions. The work environment for this position requires regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur. Exposure to loud noise, dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles is also expected. The physical requirements include the ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack. Walking/Standing is required throughout the warehouse, and standing when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter. Sitting is only required when driving sit-down material handling equipment. Lifting items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance is necessary. Stooping and kneeling are performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently as well as with a crew/team.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Needs to be available to operate press to cover for vacations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Must have a minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience as a Second Press Operator.

Responsibilities

• Assist Press Operators with press make ready and operate press based upon written instructions provided.
• Perform folder set ups and maintain press register and color.
• Read and understand job tickets for stock and color specifications.
• Verify that stock and ink match job specs on ticket.
• Perform quality pull sheet procedures according to Orora press SOPs.
• Ensure samples are pulled and labeled according to Orora press SOPs.
• Ensure each job is produced to customer specifications, meeting internal and external deadlines.
• Follow all safety policies and regulations.
• Assist in performing routine maintenance on the press with the press team members as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
