About The Position

Furever Family Veterinary Care Center is seeking a full-time Assistant Practice Manager who is passionate about veterinary medicine, enjoys working with people, and is dedicated to improving team dynamics. This role is a hands-on leadership position within a Fear Free Certified, full-service small animal hospital in East Moline, Illinois, focusing on dogs and cats. The hospital emphasizes a supportive, appreciative, and challenging work environment where humor is also valued.

Requirements

• 3+ years of veterinary experience preferred
• 1+ year of leadership and/or training experience
• Experience with PIMS and reference laboratories
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Good judgment and the ability to prioritize in a busy hospital
• Comfort giving and receiving feedback
• A willingness to jump in and help wherever you're needed
• A team-first mindset
• A sense of humor is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Practice Manager and Medical Director to support the team.
• Help create a workplace where people feel respected, valued, and supported.
• Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
• Participate in hiring and team development.
• Support employee check-ins, reviews, coaching, and accountability.
• Identify opportunities for assistants and technicians to learn and grow.
• Participate in weekly leadership meetings and follow through on projects.
• Ensure information flows effectively between leadership and the team.
• Lead by example and embody the hospital's core values.
• Assist with staff scheduling.
• Assist with payroll processing.
• Assist with purchasing and inventory.
• Assist with equipment and building maintenance.
• Contribute to hospital projects and process improvements.
• Help organize employee celebrations and recognition events.
• Assist with managing holidays, birthdays, and team events.
• Step in to help with other tasks as needed.
