The Globe and Mail is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Photo Editor, with a love of photography and visual storytelling, who will assign, research, edit and package photography for digital and print platforms. The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, and a proven ability to work with photographers to help shape story ideas from start to finish. They will be unflappable under daily deadline pressures, and be comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting. Strong technical editing skills are essential, as is a passion for the future of visual journalism in a digital world. The Globe and Mail’s visuals team is a multidisciplinary group of designers, developers, photo editors, data journalists and graphic artists. We work collaboratively across all aspects of The Globe’s coverage on everything from long-term investigative projects to breaking news and immersive story formats. The successful candidate will be a collaborative journalist and a positive advocate within the wider newsroom for the power and value of visuals as core to The Globe’s journalism. They will also have a passion for continually improving processes and workflows in an ever-changing media environment.
