About The Position

The School of Teacher Education within Western Kentucky University's College of Education and Behavioral Sciences is a national leader in teacher preparation. Its Elementary Education program provides leadership and administration for undergraduate and graduate programs, works with school districts through traditional teaching and Grow Your Own programming, and collaborates to maintain rigorous programs and foster community engagement. The program seeks a full-time, tenure-track eligible Assistant or Associate Professor in Elementary Education.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or equivalent.
• At least three years of experience teaching in elementary schools.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research in Elementary Education.
• Demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching, outreach, and service.
• Assistant Professor: demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research.
• Associate Professor: at least six years of experience in higher education; demonstrate excellence in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses; provide evidence of sustained scholarly activity, including publications and presentations; and have a record of service to the institution and profession.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of Elementary Education areas.
• Provide effective leadership and supervision of clinical field experiences.
• Conduct research and scholarly activities.
• Serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement effective and appropriate programs and policies.
• Serve on university, college, department, and program committees.
• Support student engagement in community service learning activities.
• Use alternative delivery methods or web-based instruction, or demonstrate a strong desire to gain experience with them.
