About The Position

The J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Supply Chain Management, beginning August 16, 2027. This position is designed for an outstanding scholar whose research advances knowledge in supply chain management. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have demonstrated a record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and evidence of a sustained pipeline of research. Candidates at the Associate Professor level should have an established record of high-quality scholarship, evidence of a strong research pipeline, a pattern of accomplishments consistent with progress toward a national or international reputation, and qualifications consistent with AACSB Scholarly Academic expectations. Regular on-campus availability, in-person teaching, and active contribution to the life of the department, including exhibiting respect and cooperation in shared academic and administrative tasks are essential duties. Departmental service activities commensurate with tenure and rank are expected.

Requirements

• A completed Ph.D. in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited business school or equivalent accredited institution by the position start date.
• Demonstrated record of published research in top-tier supply chain management, logistics, operations, or business journals.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to teach supply chain management courses effectively at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• Meet standards to be classified as a Scholarly Academic for AACSB purposes.
• High-quality oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and collegially as a contributing member of a research-active faculty team.
• Ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid/blended, online, graduate, executive, or professional education formats.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

• A strong research record and demonstrated leadership roles in research projects that result in top-tier journal publications.
• Strong pipeline of research including manuscripts under second or third revision at top tier supply chain management journals.
• Experience teaching courses related to logistics, procurement, transportation, operations, analytics, or supply chain strategy.
• Research interests related to resilience and risk, supply chain visibility, analytics, robotics and automation, technology-enabled supply chains, defense and critical infrastructure supply chains, the interface between commercial and public-sector logistics systems, or other areas of strategic industry importance.
• Industry work experience in supply chain management, logistics, operations, analytics, transportation, procurement, retail, manufacturing, or related fields.
• Demonstrated record of engagement with industry professionals, firms, public-sector organizations, or applied research partners.
• Research interests that could naturally complement the logistics problems addressed by the Contested Logistics Consortium.
