About The Position

The School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus invites applications to fill one (1) full-time faculty position in the educational leadership stream within its Electrical and Computer Engineering Programs. Applicants will be considered for the ranks of Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track) or Associate Professor of Teaching (tenure-track or tenured), commensurate with their experience, accomplishments, educational leadership, and/or teaching expertise including (but not limited to) areas of digital hardware, microelectronics, VSLI and gate arrays, autonomous systems and robotics, computer architecture and embedded systems, and related fields. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027 or a date to be mutually agreed upon. Decisions for hiring will be based upon applicants' potential and/or evidence towards excellence in teaching and educational leadership, to the benefit of Canada and the global community, as well as their fit to the School. We look to shape leaders for the future of our programs and profession. The stated positions offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the development, growth, and leadership of programs in the School of Engineering. The program integrates foundational and applied courses in engineering, with hands-on learning and immersive experiences for students.

Requirements

  • Hold a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a field related to Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Be registered, or be eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia within five years of appointment
  • Evidence of ability and commitment to teaching (for Assistant Professor of Teaching)
  • Promise of educational leadership (for Assistant Professor of Teaching)
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching (for Associate Professor of Teaching)
  • Demonstrated educational leadership (for Associate Professor of Teaching)
  • Keep abreast of current developments in their disciplines, and in the field of teaching and learning (for Associate Professor of Teaching)
