About The Position

The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty position in experimental high-energy physics. Qualified applicants in all areas of experimental HEP are encouraged to apply. The appointment is expected to begin in August 2027, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The department teaching load is one course per semester. The department has active research groups in astronomy, astrophysics, atomic, molecular, and optical physics, high-energy physics, and condensed matter physics. It hosts an active NSF REU program, maintains a machine shop and an electronics shop, and provides access to the Oklahoma Supercomputing Center for Education and Research (OSCER). The University of Oklahoma HEP group contributes to the ATLAS experiment, has extensive experience in silicon strip and pixel detector technology, and participates in the high-luminosity upgrade of the ATLAS detector and muon collider R&D. The group hosts one of the ATLAS Tier 2 computing centers and has experience in Standard Model and beyond-the-Standard-Model physics, including Higgs, top, supersymmetry, and unconventional signatures. A recent gift endowed the experimental HEP group with funds to support two full-time research faculty in perpetuity, as well as sustained support for a seminar series and graduate students. The University of Oklahoma is a Carnegie-R1 comprehensive public research university focused on teaching, research, and community engagement. It enrolls over 30,000 students and has more than 2,700 full-time faculty members in 21 colleges.
