About The Position

Eastern Mennonite University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in its CACREP-accredited Graduate Counseling Program (Clinical Mental Health Counseling). We offer a mentorship-driven, small-cohort environment that emphasizes depth, psychodynamic, humanistic, and expressive arts approaches. Candidates enthusiastic about community-focused research and grant work will thrive supporting our active $2.38M HRSA grant initiative expanding behavioral health care to rural and medically underserved populations.

Requirements

  • PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia preferred.
  • Applicants must have a strong commitment to serving and working within a community of diverse learners.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Eastern Mennonite University is not offering visa sponsorship for this role at this time.

  • A track record of active, inclusive, student-centered teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching load would include graduate courses in clinical mental health counseling, typically 3-4 courses per semester.
  • May include providing leadership for clinical practicum and internship placements through the role of Professional Practice Coordinator (course releases provided).
  • Engage in ongoing academic scholarship in counseling, including research collaborations with students.
  • A tenure-track position requires the development of an ongoing, scholarly research agenda.
  • Remain current in the field of clinical mental health counseling and best practices in counselor education.
  • Provide faculty service to EMU at the departmental and university levels.
  • Department and university service is expected in the form of advising and mentoring students and participation on university committees.
