Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science
About The Position
The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Texas A&M University - Texarkana invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science. This tenure-track position focuses on delivering high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, preparing students for roles in Computer Science and Information Technology industries. The role involves teaching a load of 3 courses per long semester, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats. Faculty are expected to maintain regular office hours and contribute to a student-success driven environment. The start date is anticipated for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire, and no pre-employment sponsorship is authorized.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Doctorate in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching or assisting in teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Proficiency in relevant tools and platforms (e.g., Eclipse, R-Studio, GenAI).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to student-centered teaching and continuous improvement.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire.
- For Associate Professor rank: Meet all minimum requirements for Assistant Professor rank.
- For Associate Professor rank: A high level of accomplishments as measured against the contributions of contemporaries in the field of Computer Science.
- For Associate Professor rank: At least 5 years of experience at the rank of Assistant Professor at a comparable university.
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. or Doctorate from an accredited US university.
- Experience in designing and delivering undergraduate computer science and artificial Intelligence/machine learning courses.
- Industry experience or consulting in computer science or related fields.
- Experience teaching in both in-person and online environments.
- Competence in teaching classes on programming languages (such as Java, Python, R, etc.).
- A relevant certification and/or industry experience are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science.
- Prepare students for Computer Science/Information Technology based roles in industry.
- Teach 3 courses per long semester, comprising in-person, online, and hybrid classes.
- Keep regular office hours.
- Engage students in the practical, theoretical, and technical aspects of computer science.
- Contribute to research and service commensurate with the university’s guidelines for the rank of associate professor (for Associate Professor rank).
