About The Position

Muhlenberg College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Computer Science (tenure-track) to work at its Allentown, PA location. The role involves teaching three computer science courses per semester, encompassing both introductory and upper-level electives. Specific courses include introductory-level computer science (e.g., Introduction to Python/Computer Science), Software Engineering, Database, and other electives aligned with the applicant's research interests. Tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain an ongoing research program. The college provides start-up funds for new faculty research, grants to support summer scholarship, and funding for student summer research. Additionally, financial support is available for both faculty and students to attend disciplinary conferences. The successful candidate will be dedicated to training future computer scientists, demonstrating a strong commitment to teaching and maintaining an active research program.

Requirements

• Must have a Ph.D. (ABD) in Computer Science or related field
• Strong commitment to teaching
• Strong commitment to maintaining an active research program
• Will undergo background checks including child abuse clearance, education verification, and criminal background checks

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 computer science courses per semester, with a combination of introductory courses to upper-level electives
• Teach one or more introductory-level computer science courses (e.g., Introduction to Python/Computer Science, etc.)
• Teach courses in Software Engineering, Database, and any other electives aligned with the applicant's research field and interest
• Maintain an ongoing research program
• Train future computer scientists
