About The Position

The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities is a residential school for academically gifted high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, located on the campus of Ball State University. This is a full-time, 10-month (academic year) contract position, renewable based on satisfactory job performance. Anticipated assignments include three to four sections per semester of high school computer science courses, including AP, dual credit, and electives that align with Indiana Computer Science standards, in addition to Colloquium, student advising, or other service requirements. Other computer science electives are possible, with student needs and teacher experience determining the final course load. Indiana Academy faculty, ranked in the top 10 in the nation (2026 Niche.com rankings) among public high school faculty, have the opportunity to create unique courses tailored to their areas of specialization. Faculty work together across disciplines to provide a one-of-a-kind education to Indiana’s high-ability students that includes AP, dual-credit, and specialty courses. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Education, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience at the secondary or undergraduate collegiate level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours each in fall and spring semesters of AP, dual credit, and electives that align with Indiana Computer Science standards, in addition to Colloquium, student advising, or other service requirements.
  • Teach a colloquium course or be assigned a service duty each semester.
  • Holding approximately 10 office hours per week.
  • Providing professional service through various Outreach programs of the Indiana Academy.
  • Engaging in scholarly activity.
