About The Position

The Department of Biology in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology. The ideal candidate will have innovative and creative instruction that complements and enhances the department’s pre-health profession related programs. While the area of specialization is open, candidates will be expected to teach Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. Additional courses may include Introductory Biology for Majors, Microbiology, and/or Immunology or other courses to complement the pre-health profession related curriculum. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service. Candidates who understand the barriers facing different groups of students and are passionate about helping all students meet their academic and career goals are encouraged to apply. Finalists will be expected to present an engaging teaching demonstration as part of the interview process.

Requirements

A PhD in biological sciences is preferred
Previous college teaching experience is preferred
ABD candidates will be considered
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

Teaching 21 credit hours annually
Active participation in departmental, college, and university service
Establishing an active research program involving undergraduates
Active participation in the department's assessment program
Participation in student recruiting and retention efforts for the college and the university
