About The Position

The Department of Biology in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology. The ideal candidate will have innovative and creative instruction that complements and enhances the department’s pre-health profession related programs. While the area of specialization is open, candidates will be expected to teach Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. Additional courses may include Introductory Biology for Majors, Microbiology, and/or Immunology or other courses to complement the pre-health profession related curriculum. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service. The department seeks candidates who understand the barriers facing diverse student groups and are passionate about helping all students achieve their academic and career goals. Applications will be reviewed immediately and continue until the position is filled, with a start date of August 2027. Finalists will be required to present an engaging teaching demonstration during the interview process.

Requirements

PhD in biological sciences (preferred)
Previous college teaching experience (preferred)
ABD candidates will be considered

Responsibilities

Teaching 21 credit hours annually
Active participation in departmental, college, and university service
Establishing an active research program involving undergraduates
Active participation in the department's assessment program
Participation in student recruiting and retention efforts for the college and the university
