About The Position

Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track assistant or associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, specializing in quantum computer science. This role is part of the Faculty 100 strategic hiring initiative, seeking scholars to advance the theoretical foundations, software systems, security frameworks, and applications of quantum computing. The university encourages interdisciplinary approaches and collaboration with existing IUB quantum computing researchers, aiming to expand and strengthen the program. The appointments are for 10 months, ideally starting August 1, 2027, with negotiable start dates. Requirements

• PhD in computer science (or a related field).
• Commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• For positions with tenure: a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for an appointment with tenure, including extramurally funded research as a corresponding principal investigator, current funding or strong potential to secure external funding, established record of publications and scholarly work, and experience leading sizeable research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or maintain a robust research portfolio, including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding.
• Conduct cutting-edge research as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator.
• Teach and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students as designated by the department chairperson.
• Actively provide service within the department, school, and university.
• Engage actively with the profession and/or the community.
