The UNT College of Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor focused on artificial intelligence in biomedical science, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will have a record of research accomplishment and compelling plans for an independent research program applying AI and computational modeling to study the function and interactions of biological macromolecules and processes. Research should be grounded in one or more natural science disciplines in the College of Science—biological sciences, chemistry, or physics—and interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged. Potential areas include drug discovery, biomolecular design, disease diagnosis and treatment, and elucidation of disease mechanisms. This position is part of a Biomedical Research Cluster Hire recruiting five faculty members in health- and cancer-related research for Fall 2027. The appointee will join one or more academic departments within the College of Science and collaborate with researchers across UNT, including the BioDiscovery Institute and Biomedical Engineering Department. The role is expected to build a nationally and internationally visible, externally funded research program. The new faculty member will receive a competitive startup package and access to existing UNT computing resources. Teaching contributions to undergraduate and graduate programs, typically one course per long semester, and departmental and university service are also expected. Application review begins November 10, 2026, and continues until the position is filled.
