About The Position

The Gannon University College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (Ruskin, Florida Campus) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor and Program Director of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The Program Director will have teaching and advising responsibilities and will be provided release time for administrative duties. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions. Gannon University has CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs at the Erie and Ursuline College campuses, both of which are in high demand and currently at enrollment capacity. The Program Director is responsible for developing curriculum for a new program in Ruskin, Florida and developing initial relationships with clinical placement sites. With support from colleagues at the other two Gannon University campuses, the Program Director will prepare the new program to comply with accreditation standards as a secondary location, with a goal of admitting a first cohort of students in Fall 2028. Upon launch of the new program, the successful candidate will engage in student recruitment, teach graduate courses, advise students, and participate in departmental, college, and university committees and service activities. The program director will be responsible for assessment, budget management, CACREP reporting, and participate in recruitment of additional faculty. Ideal candidates will provide evidence of competence in interactive and collaborative teaching styles, as well as active scholarship in the counseling field and commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting. Qualified candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, advise students and prepare them intellectually, professionally, and personally, and engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision (completed by time of appointment).
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education.
  • Must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its strong liberal arts foundation that supports exemplary professional education programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure as a Professional Counselor, or ability to obtain licensure in Florida within one year of hire.
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, program evaluation, instruction and advising.
  • Knowledgeable about CACREP accreditation requirements and process.
