About The Position

Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor for its Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. This is a full-time, tenure-track position reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. The role involves teaching graduate courses, developing curriculum, conducting research, advising students, and contributing to departmental and public service. CTS is an ecumenical graduate school in Indianapolis, IN, committed to rigorous education, spiritual formation, and community service, with a robust counseling program that integrates professional preparation with theological reflection.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Counseling Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program.
  • Licensed mental health counselor or licensed or licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical professional counselor (LMHC, LPC, LCPC).
  • Must hold an Indiana counselor licensure prior to the start date of the appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an additional theology or religious studies degree (e.g., MDiv, MTS, DMin, or MA), with preparation in pastoral theology.
  • Strong commitment to the integration of theological reflection and social justice principles with the healing wisdom found in counseling, psychology, and the social sciences.
  • Contribute a specialization in psychodynamic counseling, addiction counseling, trauma-informed leadership, family counseling, play therapy, and sexuality, gender, and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses.
  • Develop and organize course curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Conduct research in the field of expertise.
  • Serve as academic advisor to students.
  • Provide service to the department, school, or public through such activities as leading committees, and volunteer work.
  • Teach 9 credits (three courses) per academic year.
  • Provide six hours of practicum supervision during the academic year.
  • Engage in year-round (12 months) counseling supervision/field experience practicum.
  • Actively participate in the faculty's collaborative preparation for the program's CACREP accreditation.
  • Participate in committee service.
  • Meaningfully participate in a collaborative learning community in alignment with the Faculty Handbook.
  • Participate in outreach, open house events, admissions, and student recruitment activities.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
