About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) will provide leadership and direction for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager, acting as a liaison between physician, patient, and family. This role aids in the orientation and mentoring of new employees, ensuring existing staff are prepared for patient emergencies. The ANM is responsible for coordinating assignments that meet the standard of care for patient acuity and organizing teams based on the Novice to Expert theory. They will participate in staff development and training, serving as a mentor and resource person, while maintaining clinical competency to manage a clinical assignment. This position retains responsibility for the health and safety of patients and employees and participates with the Nurse Manager in completing performance evaluations, resolving personnel problems, counseling employees, improving patient experience, and ensuring regulatory agency preparedness.

Requirements

  • Passion for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • 5+ years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience in the NICU, Level III preferred
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred

Responsibilities
