About The Position

This role is for an experienced Emergency Department RN ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be a coach, mentor, problem solver, and advocate for both patients and staff. They will partner with the Nurse Manager to oversee daily operations, improve patient outcomes, enhance employee engagement, and ensure exceptional emergency care is delivered. Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years recent Emergency Department nursing experience required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Current South Carolina or Multistate Compact Registered Nurse license in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (or obtained within organizational timeframe if applicable)
  • Strong clinical judgment in a high-acuity emergency environment
  • Inspiring leadership and team-building abilities
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Passion for mentoring and developing future nursing leaders
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to improve quality, safety, and operational performance
  • Commitment to exceptional patient-centered care
  • Working a minimum of one holiday annually
  • Working two weekend shifts every six-week schedule (or equivalent)
  • Remaining flexible to support evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and off-shift rounding as operational needs require

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Previous Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Staff Leader, Assistant Nurse Manager, or other nursing leadership experience preferred
  • National specialty nursing certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership for a busy Emergency Department.
  • Support, mentor, and develop a team of emergency nurses and clinical staff.
  • Lead patient flow initiatives to improve throughput and reduce wait times.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and compassionate care.
  • Coach staff using evidence-based practice and quality improvement principles.
  • Monitor department performance metrics and implement strategies for continued success.
  • Collaborate with physicians, hospital leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with DNV, CMS, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the nursing leader during assigned shifts and in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
  • Champion employee engagement, professional development, Shared Governance, and patient experience initiatives.
