About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager manages the daily clinical operations of the 24-bed Progressive Care Unit at Hillcrest Hospital. The PCU provides hemodynamic monitoring, continuous respiratory care, pharmacologic interventions, and step-down open-heart, thoracic, and cardiovascular services to young adult, adult, and geriatric patients. It cares for patients whose needs are beyond those of a medical-surgical unit but who are not as critical as ICU patients. The Assistant Nurse Manager supports professional development and initiatives to improve caregiver skills and the patient experience. Approximately 70% of the day consists of in-staff responsibilities and interactions. The role may also float to the ICU as needed and offers leadership experience as a potential steppingstone to a future Nurse Manager role. Additional certifications such as PCCRN or CCRN may be pursued. The position works nights, with a schedule listed as 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. The description also states that the caregiver works nights between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., includes two weekends per six-week period, and works one winter and one summer holiday per year.
