About The Position

The UH Parma Medical Center Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center. The ED is a 32 bed unit with 24 beds on the main side including 23 monitor beds and 2 trauma bays. The Super Track area has 8 beds run by an Advanced Practice Provider. The ED Team is described as a giant family that thrives on teamwork, spending time together both in and outside of work, and enjoying joking around and having fun while caring for patients. The role's purpose is to maintain the nursing staff in all areas and deliver safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients and families.

Requirements

(ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required) or (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required)
1+ years clinical experience (Required)
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with professionalism and integrity. (Required proficiency)
Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (Required proficiency)
PC and computer applications (Required proficiency)
Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Nice To Haves

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
Certification in a specialty clinical area or leadership (Required within 2 Years)

Responsibilities

Routinely provide patient care.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
Maintains employee records.
Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff development.
Participates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals, and education.
Committee involvement, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost-effective manner.
