About The Position

This role involves performing work independently in Journeyman skill areas, when qualified, or under direct supervision when not yet qualified. The position also includes assisting qualified individuals in maintenance, responding to station emergencies, and contributing to the development and validation of station procedures and tests. The role requires interpreting work orders, drawings, and blueprints, preparing records, reporting abnormal conditions, and using hand tools for electrical component repair. Adherence to safe work practices, station procedures, and radiation safety protocols is essential. The position also involves maintaining proficiency as a Nuclear Apprentice Electrician and completing Nuclear Journeyman Electrician Qualification within four years of hire.

Requirements

Must successfully complete, or have successfully completed, Edison Electric Institute (EEI) MASS testing.
Must meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications, in accordance with the Section of the Foreword of the Job Manual entitled "General Qualifications."
Must have satisfactorily completed an Electrical Apprentice Program, or the equivalent.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of: Applied electricity and electronics including A.C. and D.C. electrical circuits, machinery, measurements and calculations.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of: The layout, construction, functions and operation of the electrical equipment and circuit connections of the Station.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of: The electrical maintenance, repair and construction procedures and practices of the Station.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of: Safe rigging and scaffolding practices and the use and care of tackle hoists and ladders required in the work.
Must be a graduate of an accredited High School or have a GED.
Must pass and stay current in training.
Must have the ability to receive, interpret and act on orders and instruction in a manner that will obtain safe and satisfactory work results.
Must be able to properly use electrical tools and precision instruments in the conduct of maintenance.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Must be capable of performing strenuous work in confined areas, where required.
Must have good manual dexterity, normal color perception and vision correctable to 20/30.
Must have a cooperative temperament and be able to work effectively with peers and management while under pressure.

Responsibilities

Performing work independently in Journeyman skill areas, when qualified in accordance with Davis-Besse Training Program for Nuclear Electricians.
Performing work in Journeymen skill areas, under the direct supervision of a qualified individual, when the individual has not yet completed qualifications.
Assisting a qualified individual in performing maintenance in skill areas.
Assisting, as assigned, in the response to any Station Emergency.
Assisting in the development, correction, and validation of Station Procedures and Tests.
Interpreting work orders, drawings, sketches, blueprints, etc.
Properly preparing records used in connection with the work.
Reporting abnormal conditions observed, such as: abnormal operating conditions, safety conditions, and security violations.
Using hand tools to prepare, fabricate, and otherwise repair electrical components structural components.
Ensuring that the work area and equipment are in good order and cleaned up after completion of work.
Following safe work practices and adhering to all Station and Company procedures for Industrial and Radiation Safety.
Maintaining proficiency as a Nuclear Apprentice Electrician by meeting the established requalifications and continuing training requirements.
Completing the Nuclear Journeyman Electrician Qualification within four years of initial hire to Nuclear Apprentice Electrician.
Complying with the applicable Station Procedures in the performance of the Duties.
Performing other responsibilities, as assigned.
