About The Position

This position is responsible for performing electrical maintenance activities on both nuclear safety-related and non-safety-related components. This includes preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and planned and unplanned corrective maintenance to ensure the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear generating station. The role requires availability for work when needed to ensure adequate manpower for analyzing and correcting plant equipment issues. Additionally, the position is part of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO), requiring the ability to respond to the station within 90 minutes of an emergency declaration. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, with the union determining seniority for shift, vacation, and holiday selection.

Requirements

  • Meet position requirements.
  • Demonstrate competency through established testing procedures by qualifying on the EEI MASS pre-employment test at the nuclear level.
  • Ability to utilize computer-based maintenance management system.
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and electrical drawings/prints.
  • Knowledge to troubleshoot electrical circuits and controls using prints and test equipment.
  • Ability to use various electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeter, amprobe, megger, etc.).
  • Ability to use powered and non-powered hand tools proficiently.
  • Ability to plan work to maximize production.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • 3 years Nuclear Journeyman Electrician experience or 5 years of equivalent critical industry electrical maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrate concern for safety of self and others.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Able to work efficiently as a member of a team.
  • Accept responsibility for own performance.
  • Be adaptable to changing requirements.
  • Conduct task performance evaluations.
  • Applicants may be required to demonstrate competency through testing and/or hands-on demonstrations.
  • Live within 90 minutes of the plant site.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems; certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor systems and interrelationship preferred.
  • Previous HVAC/Chiller experience preferred.
  • Previous nuclear experience preferred.
  • Completion of Technical School with documented certification or certified completion of Accredited IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship Program with documented evidence desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance activities on nuclear safety-related and non-safety-related components.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and planned/unplanned corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of the nuclear generating station.
  • Be available for work when required to ensure adequate manpower.
  • Respond to the station within 90 minutes of an emergency declaration as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.
  • Use training and knowledge of electrical circuitry, HVAC, and refrigeration to support the plant.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electrical maintenance for maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain and repair power plant equipment.
  • Work on both energized and de-energized equipment.
  • Follow procedures and prints to install and maintain equipment.
  • Assemble and disassemble components using proper rigging and lifting techniques.
  • Troubleshoot equipment.
  • Properly use electrical test equipment.
  • Maintain proficiency and undergo periodic re-certification.
  • Test, repair, maintain, overhaul, and modify all electrical plant components.
  • Understand the theory, operation, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
  • Investigate plant equipment failures/deficiencies with Engineering, Shop Supervisor, and vendors.
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) activities.
  • Participate in and complete the Maintenance Training Program.
  • Improve the quality of electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Assist training as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in reviewing and preparing training materials and mock-ups.
  • Guide, direct, and train other employees.
  • Work shift work and potentially act as a job lead for electrical maintenance jobs.
  • Accept accountability for miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned or required.
