This Assistant Product Manager is responsible for supporting the development and enhancement of insurance products and related services within the underwriting department. Works under moderate supervision to execute product updates, ensure compliance, and support business objectives through market research and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical role within property and casualty insurance, such as product analysis, pricing, actuarial support, or filings.
  • Experience with market analysis and regulatory compliance within the insurance industry.
  • Working knowledge of insurance rating concepts, including how rating plans, relativities, and rate changes work.
  • Hands-on exposure to rate filings, including compiling exhibits or drafting objection responses.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional insurance certifications such as CPCU or ARM preferred but not required.
  • Product, pricing, or filing experience in Midwest or Southeast markets.
  • Personal or small business non-standard auto experience.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare regulatory rate, rule, and form filings, including exhibits, actuarial support, and objection responses, and manage the filing calendar across states.
  • Perform competitive analysis, including rate comparisons, competitor filing reviews, and market positioning studies for new and existing programs.
  • Monitor program performance, including loss ratio, frequency, severity, retention, and growth, and flag emerging issues with recommended actions.
  • Support new state and program launches, including rating plan research, regulatory requirement summaries, and coordination of launch deliverables.
  • Own rate testing and forms testing, working with IT to confirm products are implemented exactly as filed.
  • Maintain underwriting guidelines and rate manuals, and coordinate updates with underwriting and IT.
  • Prepare analysis and exhibits for leadership, agency partners, and reinsurers.
